Jose Tonito Rodriguez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1961. He immigrated to the United States in 1978 and currently leaves in Hialeah, Florida. Graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida International University in 1997, he starts his artistic career first as a Fine Art Photographer and later on as a Painter. His commercial job consisted in photographing artworks for many galleries and museums as well as important artists. This eclectic exposure to art created a powerful influence to his experimentation that took him beyond the realms of modern photography and introduced him to a new unexplored artistic medium. This medium, based on the use of photographic paper, color inks and an array of unconventional techniques, gives his art a unique organic approach that could only be reproduced by a photograph. His works had been exhibited in the Southeast Museum of Photography and Art Center South Florida in the United States-as well as in his native country -Colonial Museum of Havana and Ludwig Foundation of Cuba among others.
